Find out more about growing hemp in Florida by attending one of these Road Tour meetings.

The Hemp Industries Association of Florida (HIAF) is kicking off a series of informational Road Tour meetings to give Florida growers an opportunity to learn about growing hemp. The cultivation of hemp was recently approved in Florida, and it is being touted as the next big alternative crop. With Florida’s year-round growing season, hemp production has the potential to take off in The Sunshine State. Hemp could work well as a cash crop for citrus growers, beef producers, and more. See the details of the events below.

Hemp Growing Road Tour Meetings

HIAF’s president, David Hasenauer, discussed the growing of hemp at length in a 30-minute interview with Vegetable and Specialty crop news—listen to it here—that gives a lot of information about growing hemp.

The aim of the Hemp Road Tour meetings is to dispel many of the myths surrounding the plant, especially concerning its relationship to marijuana, and to share the facts about all the uses for the plant. The meetings will also give information about cultivating hemp, and attendees will be able to ask questions concerning cultivating this new crop.

The Hemp Road Tour dates are as follows:

  • August 22               Bailey Contemporary Arts Center located at 41 NE 1st St., Pompano Beach, FL 33060
