Florida tomato growers should plan now to attend the Florida Tomato Conference, presented by UF/IFAS and the Florida Tomato Committee. The event features learning with the Tomato Institute, product presentations, and food safety workshops. The event has a new location this year to accommodate more attendees. CCA and CEU credits can be obtained for select portions of the Florida Tomato Institute, as well as credits for T-GAP / T-BMP Certificates. See the details below.
Florida Tomato Conference Details
When: September 5th, 9 am to 5 pm
Where: Clewiston John Boy Auditorium: 1200 WC Owen Avenue, Clewiston, Florida, 33440
What: An annual event for those in the Florida tomato industry. The event is broken into three categories.
9 am – 12:30 pm– Tomato Institute. This includes a ‘State of the Industry’ address and informational topics like ag trade, tomato phosphorus fertilizer BMP trials, stink bugs, weed management, and more.
CCA and CEU credits are available for select portions of the Florida Tomato Institute. Event organizers ask that you “have your license numbers with you for the conference. Attendance and a few evaluation questions will be required. -Paper and electronic options will be available.”
12:30 pm-1 pm: Product Presentations. This portion of the event features presentations on products like insecticides and fungicides.
Lunch is steak provided by Hendry County Cattleman’s Association.
2 pm- 5 pm: Food Safety Workshops: These workshops focus on produce safety, the T-GAP program, and more.
T-GAP / T-BMP Certificate credits are also available. Event organizers ask that “Participants must be present and complete pre- and post-tests in order to receive a certificate of participation.”

The Florida Tomato Conference is FREE for employees of Florida tomato growers / packers, sponsors, presenters, and university affiliates. Other attendees are $50. Registration closes August 27th. Early registration closes August 26th.
