Details of Nominating a 4R Advocate
4R Advocates are those who champion sound nutrient stewardship through the use of the 4Rs of nutrient stewardship on their farms along with the help of their ag retailers. The 4Rs are:
- The right source
- The right rate
- The right time
- The right place
The 4Rs guide proper nutrient application and aim to keep nutrients on and in the field; the alternative leads to nutrients leeching into waterways and becoming a pollutant, and to loss of time and money for growers. 4R Advocates work to “assist The Fertilizer Institute in raising awareness and adoption of 4R Nutrient Stewardship.”
Nominations for the 4R Advocate Program are being accepted through March 31st, 2024. The nomination form can be found here, and “Ag retailers are encouraged to work with growers to complete the nomination form with relevant details about how they are implementing the 4R practices.”
