Read about the Adams Ranch Annual Bull and Heifer cattle auction, the longest running cattle auction in Florida.
Florida is the oldest cattle state in the country, with cattle brought by Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon in the 1500s. The Adams Ranch Annual B&H Auction hasn’t been around quite that long, but it is Florida’s oldest continuous ranch cattle auction. Scheduled for November 9th, with an Annual Field Day on the 8th, it will be the 39th annual holding of the event. See the details below.
Details of the Adams Ranch Annual Bull and Heifer Auction
The ranch is located in Fort Pierce, Florida, and the family maintains that the first Adams family member came into the area in 1895. Lenyer Adams travelled to Florida and began the family’s forays into cattle ranching. Then, in the 1930s, Alto Adams Sr. bought land in Fort Pierce where the the current Adam Ranch is located and started raising cattle.
So far, four generations of the Adams’ family have held hands-on management roles concerning the ranch, and future generations are being brought up on the farm. Stats show the Adams Ranch to be 16th in the top 25 largest cow-calf ranches in the U.S., and the seventh largest in Florida. They are well-known for their breeding programs that created the Braford cattle line and other premier seedstock which are up for auction, for utilizing a naturally-raised grazing process, and utilizing an array of conservation programs to preserve the land for future generations.
