Florida citrus growers can join the new UF/IFAS-hosted virtual OJ Breaks for free and earn CEUs.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension citrus program has launched a series of webinars of free virtual OJ Breaks. Held twice a month, the first in the series was held December 15th. According to a Citrus Industry article, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be requested for each webinar for participants. See the details below.
Details of the Virtual OJ Breaks
UF/IFAS Extension agent for Hillsborough and Polk counties, Chris Oswalt, said in the article, “COVID-19 has made it difficult for us to meet with growers as we traditionally have. But as Extension agents and our growers get more accustomed to using the virtual meeting technology, we thought it was time to start offering these OJ Break meetings virtually.”
Each of the virtual OJ Breaks will be about and hour to 90 minutes. They will focus on the “latest information on grove production practices and research findings,” and horticultural practices. The first webinar looked at the relaunched flower bud advisory program, presented by Tripti Vashisth, according to the article.
CEUs will be requested for each webinar to be used towards renewing restricted-use pesticide licenses and the Certified Crop Advisor designation. The CEUs that will available for every meeting will be added to the registration website as applicable.
Anyone may attend, but you must preregister here to receive the webinar’s Zoom link.
