Farmers, ranchers and private forestland owners are being asked to take a USDA survey to improve the agency.

A USDA survey is making its way to thousands of producers across the country, but the agency is encouraging any farmer, rancher, or private forestland owner to take the survey. The annual survey is aimed at improving the USDA and its agencies, according to a Citrus Industry article. Explore the details below.

Details of the USDA Survey

According to the article, the USDA survey asks respondents what the USDA and its agencies are doing well and where improvements could be made. Specific agencies that are the focus of the survey include the Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Risk Management Agency (RMA).

In the article, Natural Resources Conservation Service Chief Matthew Lohr said “We will use this input to help improve the delivery of our conservation programs as our sister agencies will do for their programs.”

The survey contains 20 questions, and is estimated to take 10 minutes to complete. Replies are confidential. The USDA encourages any producer who is interested to take the survey, though the USDA has targeted producers to send the survey to individually. Find the survey here.

“The more responses we receive, the better we can understand what we need to do to improve our services to America’s farmers, ranchers and private forestland owners,” Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation Bill Northey said in the article.
