Every year, The Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame bestows honor on a select few men and women who have demonstrated their dedication to our state’s agriculture. These four men have invested in our state’s youth, mentoring and educating the next generation about the future of Florida agriculture.
Thomas H. Braddock
Thomas Braddock has demonstrated his dedication to the agricultural community for years. From his stint as a host for Hi Neighbor, a local television show that highlighted natural resources, agriculture and more, to his most recent achievement: The Thomas H. Braddock, Jr. Trust Agreement. This endowment program pledged 1.7 million dollars to the University of Florida’s Foundation, directly establishing an endowed chair in the Department of Animal Sciences. This chair helps ensure future generations will preserve Florida’s agriculture.
Dr. Joseph C. Joyce
As a dedicated servant to the Institute of Food and Agricultural Services, Dr. Joseph C. Joyce has increased funding, conducted research and developed extension programs for IFAS members. He successfully managed a program that helped control the intrusion of the water hyacinth into Florida’s waters.
Billy Kempfer
For over four decades, Billy Kempfer has inspired the youth of Florida to pursue their agricultural passions. He offers his ranch as a laboratory for IFAS youth to pursue and study animal sciences and supplies bull heifers and bull semen for prodigy testing and feeding studies. His lifelong dedication to Florida’s animal sciences is the reason Mr. Kempfer is being inducted into the AG Hall of Fame.
Dr. Charles F. “Chip” Hinton
Dr. Hinton created the program “Farmers Feeding Florida” that distributed over 1 million pounds of fruit and vegetables to the hungry and needy in its first year. In the fifth year, this program donated over 22 million pounds of fresh produce, equating to $1.6 million dollars. It is because of his active influence in Florida counties that Dr. Hinton is one of the esteemed inductees for 2016.
Griffin Fertilizer is joining the members of the agriculture industry in honoring these men and their achievements. Just as these men have demonstrated their commitment to Florida’s farmers, we also are committed to helping both growers and ranchers make sound agronomic and economic decisions in order to maximize their health of their pasture.
