Citrus is to Florida what Mickey Mouse is to Walt Disney World. It’s an hallmark that— without its existence— would leave the state’s economy short $10 billion of Florida agriculture’s more than $120 billion annual economic impact. To top it off, the industry supports more than 64,000 jobs, and right now all of those professionals have their sights set on the greatest threat to the industry we have yet to face— citrus greening disease. That’s why, at this year’s Florida Citrus Show the theme is “delivering on the promises.” This sentiment sends out a clear message that it’s time to do more than just talk about the problem— but take a long, hard look at the research that’s being conducted to find a long-term solution. The theme, which resonates with all of us involved in the citrus industry, is reflected in each of the major topics that will be presented at the show.

Featured topics of the Florida Citrus Show include presentations on nutritional treatments for HLB-infected trees, new and improved rootstocks ready for release, using HLB-fighting bactericides, thermotherapy treatment for HLB-infected trees, and much more. Presenters hale from respected institutions and organizations, such as the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Other hot topics of discussion include the realities of future US-Cuban trade, alongside additional exhibitions and vendor booths, giveaways and more.
