Livestock Extension agents from all around Florida were trained earlier in the year in order to offer Beef Quality Assurance training to producers.

Beef Quality Assurance training is an option that can have a real impact on beef producers’ bottom lines. The training offers multiple benefits, which is why 25 Livestock Extension agents from all over Florida were trained in BQA in order to then offer that training in a “live” setting to their local producers, according to a South-Florida Beef-Forage Program article. Beef Quality Assurance Training Benefits

The BQA program teaches “proper management techniques and a commitment to quality within every segment of the beef industry” with two aims being to raise consumer confidence and advocate for the beef industry. The designation gives consumers confidence that the beef was raised by good stewards who are aiming for quality.

According to the BQA.org website, “A recent study from Colorado State University measured the monetary value of having BQA certification on beef operations. Research was conducted to determine how a BQA Certification listing affected the sale price of beef calves and feeder cattle marketed through video auctions. The study resulted in a premium of $16.80 per head or an estimated $2.71/cwt.”
