UF/IFAS is hosting a handful of Fruit Display Days for Florida growers and others to see the latest varieties from its breeding programs.

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) breeding program is hosting a number of Fruit Display days for growers, packers, processors, nurseries, marketers, flavor companies, and others to see, smell, and taste the latest varieties coming of UF/IFAS breeding programs. There are many benefits to attending these Fruit Displays, according to a Citrus Industry article. Explore the details below.

Details of the UF/IFAS Fruit Display Days

Attendees of the UF/IFAS Fruit Display Days get to see, feel, touch, and taste the latest varieties that have been developed by UF/IFAS’s breeding program. They also have the opportunity to provide feedback on the varieties displayed. This feedback is of vital importance for breeders.

Those attending can expect to experience oranges and orange-like fruit, grapefruit and grapefruit-like fruit, and specialty selections. Some display days will also offer juice samples. The article notes that many grapefruit varieties will be fruiting in the coming years and will be part of the displays.

The display days are held at the UF/IFAS Citrus Research and Education Center (CREC) in Lake Alfred. The dates are as follows:
