The new Florida Citrus Production Guide will be released at the Citrus Expo; explore the new topics in it.
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) publishes the Florida Citrus Production Guide every year to share the latest in nutrition, management, citrus greening treatment, and other areas of growing citrus. According to a Citrus Industry article, the newest edition of the guide will be released at the Citrus Expo. See the details of the new topics in the guide below.
New Info in the Florida Citrus Production Guide
The Florida Citrus Production Guide 2019–2020 features 275 pages on topics like “planting, irrigation, fertilization, weed control, insect management and disease management,” according to Lauren Diepenbrock, a UF/IFAS entomology assistant professor, in the article. Diepenbrock is one of the 50 or so UF/IFAS employees contributing to and editing the guide.
“Each year, we update the guide with new information as it becomes available, so that we can continue to meet the needs of our growers as we learn about and/or develop new tools and strategies for citrus production,” Diepenbrock said in the article. New topics include:
- A new chapter on crop insurance
- An added list of websites and mobile-device apps that growers can use
Copies will be available at the Citrus Expo, slated for Aug. 14-15 at the Lee County Civic Center in North Fort Myers. Attendees can also fill out a survey that will be used for reformatting the pesticide application tables printed in the guide.
