Hosted by Griffin Fertilizer, Dow AgroSciences, Silver Spurs and UF/IFAS Extension, the event is slated from 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m. at the Silver Spurs Riding Clubhouse in Kenansville, FL. Forages Field Day Schedule
The Forages Field Day is a free event aimed at helping Central Florida producers to improve their forages program, save money, and expand their agribusiness’s capabilities. The event features presentations by guest speakers Daniel Leckie, with Dow Agrosciences; Dr. Brent Sellers, a UF/IFAS Extension Specialist; and Stacy Strickland, a UF/IFAS Ag Agent. The topics will focus on forages and herbicide/pesticide issues.
The day’s agenda is as follows:
10:00 am – 11:00 am: Explanation of Pasture Herbicide Trials at the demonstration site.
11:00 am – 12:00 pm: Weed Identification, Herbicide selection, Sprayer Calibration, and Invasive Weed Species.
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Lunch provided
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Negative Impact of Improper Fertilizer and Pesticide applications on Water. Tour of Best Management Practices demonstration.
The event also offers opportunities to gain Pesticide Continuing Education Units, or CEUs. A total of three CEUs can be earned at the free Forages Field Day.
