The 2020 Citrus Expo will be digital this year due to coronavirus, and the educational sessions will be held online so Florida growers can benefit.
Like many events this year, the 2020 Citrus Expo will not be held in person. However, event organizers have moved the educational sessions into an online format, scheduled from August 19th to the 20th, according to a Citrus Industry article. This way, Florida’s citrus growers can still benefit from the important information shared during the education program portion of the expo. Explore the details below.
Online Educational Sessions at the 2020 Citrus Expo
The online virtual Citrus Expo will feature three different parts, according to the article. The first is a general session for everyone. Highlights of this portion include an update on the state’s hemp program by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Director of Cannabis Holly Bell, as well as presentations on trade and water issues.
The second portion of the event will be educational sessions focusing on citrus. According to the article, researchers with UF/IFAS will give presentations on the following topics:
- Soil health and cover crops
- Soil amendments and conditioners for root health
- Tree care considerations for individual protective covers
- Economics of grove management
- Nutrition and irrigation practices for HLB management
- Exotic viral diseases
- Performance of rootstocks and varieties
The last portion focuses on a vegetable and specialty crop educational program. All of the educational sessions will be available online for viewing, but there will be exclusive content just for attendees. CTUs will likely be available as well.
Registration information will be available soon.
