UF/IFAS is asking Florida agriculturists to take their postfreeze damage assessment survey about the impacts of freeze events.
Florida’s recent freezing weather event hit the agriculture industry hard, and the experts at UF/IFAS are trying to figure the extent of the damage. They are asking Florida agriculturists to take the postfreeze damage assessment survey to gather “information about the cumulative impacts of all freeze events that have impacted an operation in 2026,” according to a Citrus Industry article. See the details of the survey below.
Details of the Postfreeze Damage Assessment Survey
The article shared the following details about the postfreeze damage assessment survey:
- “The survey requests the general location of the operation (county/ZIP code), commodity specific details including total acreage, affected acreage and estimated production losses.”
- “there is an option to supply additional information on infrastructural assets, stored products or stored agricultural inputs that might have been damaged or destroyed.”
- “Respondents are also able to share additional experiences and photos, if they desire.”
- “This assessment supports informed decision-making at the local, state and federal levels related to disaster declaration, response and recovery. More specifically, survey responses and subsequent analyses provide data and insights to industry associations, government agencies, policy makers and emergency management personnel.”
- “Depending on the complexity of an operation, it should take about 10 to 20 minutes to complete the survey.”
- Questions about the survey can be directed to the survey’s principal investigator, UF/IFAS Associate Professor Christa D. Court in the Department of Food and Resource Economics, at ccourt@ufl.edu or (352) 294-7675.
