Agriculture ranks among the most dangerous industries in the U.S., according to OSHA. In the last decade, nearly 6,000 workers have died from work-related injuries. In order to recognize the importance safety plays in agriculture, The American Farm Bureau Federation holds Agricultural Safety Awareness Week in order to draw attention to the critical nature that safety education and training plays in the profitability of farms and ranches.

From March 6–12, 2016, the American Farm Bureau Federation emphasized the importance of safety on the farm and ranch, but the tips, reminders, and resources shared during this week are useful all year long.

This year’s theme was “Caution: Safety is no accident” and will focused on a different topic each day from equipment safety to occupational health and awareness.

Other topics included:

  • ATV safety
  • Youth safety
  • Tractor safety
  • Roadway safety
  • Grain bin safety
  • Agritourism safety
  • Health & safety apps
