UF/IFAS is planning a series of hemp informational sessions for the year 2023 highlighting research from the last four years.

The UF/IFAS Hemp Program is holding a series of hemp informational sessions throughout the year sharing the information and research collected the last four years the program has been in operation. The first webinar was held in early February on permitting and farm planning, according to a UF/IFAS blog. See the details below.

Hemp Informational Sessions

Zachary Brym, a UF/IFAS assistant professor and hemp project lead scientist, said in the article, “We have learned a lot over the past four years working with the crop and we want to ensure that information is easy to access for growers and those interested in growing hemp in Florida. Hemp research and Extension work is ongoing, and these webinars are just a snapshot of what we’ve worked on so far.”

The hemp informational sessions for the remainder of the year include:

  • April 3: Hemp planting and nutrient management
  • June 5: Hemp disease diagnostic and management
  • Aug. 7: Hemp harvest and processing
  • Oct. 2: Hemp products
  • Dec. 4: Year-in-review

A recording of the first webinar from February 6th, and information from prior webinars and informational sessions can be found on the UF/IFAS Hemp Program’s Events Page. Past informational sessions include looking at whether hemp is legal to grow on private farms in Florida and the legality of CBD and other cannabinoids in The Sunshine State.
