Get a sneak peek at the offerings for the 2021 Citrus Expo, slated for August 18th and 19th, for Florida citrus growers and invested parties.

The upcoming 2021 Citrus Expo will focus on the theme of “what growers can do now” in terms of keeping their operations productive. This refers to productivity in the face of present challenges, such as pathogens like citrus greening and phytophthora, entomology pressures, and horticulture issues, according to a Citrus Industry article. It’s scheduled for August 18-19 at the Lee Civic Center in North Fort Myers, Florida. See what’s on tap for the upcoming Citrus Expo.

Details on the 2021 Citrus Expo

There are a number of different topics that will be addressed at the 2021 Citrus Expo, according to the article. Topics will focus on:

Pathology: Topics include citrus greening, phytophthora, and “trunk injection versus foliar application of antibiotics, and the importance of citrus canopy health.”

Entomology: Topics addressed include “the use of physical barriers in nematode and weevil management programs,” “determining thresholds for making psyllid management decisions,” and Arthropod pests.

Horticulture: Presentations will address “irrigation and nutrient management best management practices for HLB-affected trees,” fruit drop and fruit quality, the results of rootstock trials, new scion and rootstock cultivars that are “more and more tolerant of HLB,” and an economic analysis of certain rootstock trials.

The Citrus Expo runs concurrently with the Vegetable and Specialty Crop Expo, which offers its own presentations, speakers, and topics, many of which offer the opportunity for attendees to earn Continuing Education Units, or CEUs, for the Florida restricted-use pesticide (RUP) license and the Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) designation. A trade show will also be going on as well.
