“Running a successful farm or ranch takes more than just hard work — it takes smart financial planning,” advised a UF/IFAS blog about an upcoming Ag financial planning workshop. It added that “To support these efforts, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), in partnership with Texas A&M and Agricultural Finance, Tax, and Asset Protection, will host a hands-on workshop titled, “Business Planning and Tax Management for Farmers & Ranchers” on August 7th.” See the details of the workshop below.

When: August 7th, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: UF/IFAS Extension Miami-Dade County, 18710 SW 288 St., Homestead.
What:
“Participants will gain practical knowledge in:
- Creating a solid business plan with clear strategies.
- Managing financial records and statements.
- Utilizing asset protection techniques.
- Navigating USDA loan programs, including the Farm Service Agency’s (FSA) Farm Loan Program.
Participation in this workshop also satisfies the USDA FSA financial training required for current borrowers.”
The blog also added that “In addition to classroom-style instruction, attendees will receive one-on-one guidance from experts who can help them complete applications for USDA FSA loans on site. These loans are often essential for starting, expanding or maintaining family farming operations.”
The event is free and includes lunch.
